Ravenshoe United Church is a quaint, rural, family oriented church located 2.5 km. east of Woodbine Avenue on Ravenshoe Road.  We are respected for being a welcoming, friendly, caring and accepting church with a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
The "Ravenshoe Chapel" was founded in 1872-73 through the generosity of the Holborn and Glover families who donated the land and building.  The deed of transfer to the community stipulated that the congregation  had to conform to some form of Methodism. We are still the "Ravenshoe Chapel" but now under the umbrella of the United Church of Canada.

Dec 22, 1877
The trustees pass a motion to name the Chapel "Ravenshoe Chapel".

Taken from the ERA Banner on Mar. 19, 1926:
Rev. Mann is certainly drawing a good congregation.  He gave a helpful sermon on Sunday, taking for his text three lights: Red Light - danger in life.  Green Light - caution and White Light - all is well, go ahead.

Sept 15, 1877
The chapel and land are officially conveyed by Registered Deed from Thomas Glover to the Trustees, George Holborn, Robert Smith, William Daniel Glover, Charles Speck and William Henry Glover.

Such a nice lot out to Mother's Day service on Sunday.  Rev Mann delivered a soul-stirring message on "Mother and the Home" which seemed to drive all the worries and cobwebbly thoughts far from one self and bring back childhood memories.  We all appreciate the music furnished by the mothers who constituted the choir for he occasion.

The people of the Ravenshoe Methodist church are holding their annual Strawberry Festival on the spacious lawn of Mr.  H. Weddel, the evening of June 26th.  Tea served from 6 to 8 o'clock.  The ladies are sparing no expense to make it the grandest garden party ever held here.  Mr. Hewitt, the comic singer of Newmarket is expected to favour us with a few selections.  Also Miss Sibbald, the elocutionist of Barrie is to be present.  Those who have heard Miss Sibbald know of her ability.  The Queensville orchestra is to join in  making the evening a pleasant one.  Other talent from a distance is expected.  Come and join the rest in having a lovely time.
Ravenshoe Young Peoples entertained Keswick Young Peoples on Saturday night and all enjoyed a hay ride and wiener roast.

Prayer service on Wednesday evening - a very small attendance.  With the roads drying up, would like everyone to try to be present, as it is very discouraging to Rev. Mann to find scarcely anyone there.  Y.P.S. - Scripture reading by Mr.Irwin Rose; topic by Mr. Harold Bray; Solo by Mr. Jim Walker; solo from the president Mr. M.  Rutledge.

The contract to build Ravenshoe Church was signed on May 31, 1872.  Henry Groves was to construct and finish the 28 x 38 building.  The trustees were to supply the timber and all other necessary materials.  The church was to be completed within four and one half months.  The trustees were to pay Henry Groves $200 on January 1st, 1873 for his services.
The original trustees were John Holborn, John Nichols, Wiliam Glover, Joseph Glover and Francis Croutch.

The members of the W.M.S. were delighted with the splendid rally held at the Holborn home.  There were 94 ladies present representing five different societies.  Everyone enjoyed Mrs. Banfields address so much.  A social hour was held at the close of the meeting.
