GOOD NEWS FROM THE KESWICK-RAVENSHOE MINISTERIAL SELECTION TEAM
The Keswick-Ravenshoe Community of Faith held a formal meeting on Sunday, February 4th, 2018.
Approximately 62 people were in attendance to receive and act upon the recommendations of the interview team. After the presentation by Rick McKinley, Presbytery representative, and Marilyn Butcher, chairperson for the Selection Team, members agreed by vote to the following:
To extend a call to Rev. Calin Lau effective July 1, 2018 as per the terms that were outlined in the report; to request that Toronto Conference approve this call and that the interview team be disbanded following the covenanting service with our sincere thanks.
Please pray for Rev. Calin Lau and for all of us as a community of faith that we open our hearts and minds to each other’s ministry as we begin this new pastoral relationship.
Festival of Faith: Risking Faith, Daring Hope
Remember our picnic on July 1st at North Union Community Centre at 11 a.m. This will be Rev. Calin Lau's first Sunday with us. Please bring your favourite pot luck dish, cutlery, mug, lawn chair. Paper plates will be provided. North Union hall is located south on Woodbine Avenue to Boag Road (first sideroad after 404 lights) Turn left on Boag Road. The hall is at the top of the hill on the left side.
Something new is rising. The United Church of Canada, an institution as old and venerable as the nation, is going through a sort of metamorphosis. General Council 43, to be held in Oshawa, July 2018 will be a watershed.
Even before the official opening of GC43, the Festival of Faith will commence. This event will bring together musicians, authors, dancers, story tellers and crafts people on Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22. Like an old-time country fair, artists and artisans will roll in early in the morning, scrambling to set up their tent in the best location before the crowds arrive. There will be workshops being presented, intended to inform and inspire, sharing the vitality of our work and witness.
And there will be opportunities to connect and even to offer your own voice and artistry in the Coffee House or on the Green. Music, spoken word, ideas, movement and spiritual exploration are all on offer at this summers’ Festival of Faith: Risking Faith, Daring Hope. See you there! Click here for more Information.
